Air Force ROTC

AIR FORCE RESERVE OFFICE TRAINING CORPS (AFROTC)

The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) program is one of the most significant programs in the United States Military. The program is designed to train and develop young individuals who are interested in joining the United States Air Force as officers. The program provides an excellent foundation for students interested in developing leadership skills and gaining foundational knowledge in aerospace science.

Enrollment Requirements

To participate in the Air Force ROTC program, through our crosstown agreement with CSU Fresno, students must meet the following academic and registration criteria:

Full-time Enrollment at UC Merced

Cadets must be enrolled in at least 12 units per semester at UC Merced in a degree-seeking undergraduate program.  This ensures students maintain full-time status while completing AFROTC requirements.

AFROTC Course Registration at UC Merced

AFROTC courses offered by CSU Fresno will be available through UC Merced registration system.  You can enroll for AFROTC classes at the same time you enroll in your regular UC Merced courses.  Course catalog is available here.

Cadet Registration Authorization

Each semester, a list of AFROTC cadets is provided to UC Merced Registrar's Office.  These students are coded in the system to grant access to register for AFROTC courses.  If you are interested in joining the program, make sure to submit an email to det35@listserv.csufresno.edu.

Transportation

Cadets are expected to travel to CSU Fresno multiple times each week to participate in AFROTC classes, leadership laboratory activities, and physical training (PT).  Transportation is the student's responsiblity, though many cadets choose to drive themselves or coordinate carpools with others in the program.
